Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of ThatsReally.Me. By creating an account, sealing a video, or verifying a token, you agree to them.

Effective June 14, 2026

ThatsReally.Me provides cryptographic proof of consent — not legal advice, identity verification, or a guarantee against deepfakes.

1. Description of Service

ThatsReally.Me (the “Service”) allows individuals (“Users”) to create cryptographically signed consent tokens for AI-generated videos using their likeness or voice. These tokens can then be embedded into video files using the C2PA standard. Anyone can verify the presence and validity of consent via the public verification tool.

The Service does not:

  • Guarantee that a video is truthful, accurate, or non-misleading;
  • Prevent unauthorized use of likeness when no consent token is used;
  • Provide identity verification or KYC services; or
  • Offer legal protection or indemnification beyond what is explicitly stated.

2. User Responsibilities

Users are solely responsible for:

  • The content they consent to and any consequences of that content;
  • Ensuring they have the legal right to consent to the use of their likeness or voice;
  • Securely managing their passkeys and recovery options; and
  • Any content they generate or distribute using the Service.

Prohibited uses

Prohibited uses include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating consent tokens for illegal, harmful, or fraudulent content;
  • Attempting to impersonate others or bypass cryptographic controls; and
  • Using the Service to launder reputation or mislead platforms or viewers in bad faith.

3. Accounts & Security

  • Users must use strong authentication. Passkeys (WebAuthn) are the primary method; email links are a recovery fallback only.
  • Private keys and passkey material never leave your device. We never receive them.
  • You are responsible for maintaining access to your authenticators. We cannot recover private key material on your behalf, and we are not responsible for loss of access due to user error or device loss.

4. Cryptographic Proof, Not Legal Authority

A valid consent token is cryptographic evidence that the holder of a specific signing key approved specific content at a specific time. It is not proof of real-world identity, legal authority to consent, or the truthfulness or lawfulness of any content. The existence of a token does not by itself create a binding contract or grant rights clearance. See our Disclaimers for details.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Company shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:

  • Your use of, or inability to use, the Service;
  • Any reliance on cryptographic proofs or C2PA metadata;
  • Any content you consent to or distribute;
  • Unauthorized access to or use of your tokens or account; or
  • Any third-party platform's handling (or failure to handle) C2PA metadata.

The Service provides cryptographic evidence only. Platforms and viewers are responsible for their own interpretation and actions.

6. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms or abuse of the Service. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

7. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
